In 2025, Mark Partnered with Harris Grunden to form Plant Tech Blanks.

Together with Mark’s extensive knowledge and experience working with eco friendly materials and Harris’ knowledge and experience in innovative material science, made this partnership an obvious choice.

Plant Tech Blanks has committed to explore, discover and innovate new technologies to bring an Environmentally conscious, 100% compost biodegradable Surfboard Blank to Market.

Over 200 Samples and numerous Prototypes have been produced to date, with recent breakthroughs meaning Plant Tech Blanks are very close to meeting their commitment.

Some criteria for the ideal Blank include

• Reasonable cost
• Good Compatibility with current shaping and glassing methods.
• Good strength-to-weight ratio
• Good flex characteristics

The materials used, including any binding component, are to be non-toxic, natural where possible and fully compost biodegradable, which also means that any waste produced from the manufacturing process has very little impact on the environment.

To have a maximum period of 12 months for complete biodegradation in the environment.
